There are many gyms in York, and of course we might be biased but here are the reasons why we think you should make Supersonic Fitness part of your health and fitness regime.

Supersonic isn’t only a modern building with high standard facilities for health and fitness; it is a supportive environment to uplift and anchor you through your fitness journey. At Supersonic, we have a community where friendships are made after classes and encouragement is given in the gym. Exercise isn’t purely for the body, but for the mind too. Our facilities reflect this, particularly the recovery zone; both the Finnish and Infrared saunas assist with relaxation, improvement in sleep and managing stress.

The Supersonic Community

We have regular events such as Christmas parties, fitness & wellbeing workshops and karaoke nights for our gym members which brings the Supersonic community together. This health centre feels like a club, but not an exclusive one – a club where you are welcomed and introduced to others early on. However, if you prefer your independence, sticking your earphones in and banging out your workout without any chatter, we’ll also respect that and leave you be!

Our standards for cleanliness and building presentation are high. Spray bottles and wipes are provided in the gym so that points of contact can be cleaned. Not only has this been beneficial in preventing the spread of covid, but who wants to use a sweaty piece of equipment with germs on? Not us, and thanks to our measures, none of us do!

Watching you walk throughout the building without saying a simple “hi” isn’t really our thing. We prefer the personal touch and want your experience to feel personable, it’s our job to get to know you by name!

The Personal Touch

Each member is offered a personalised workout programme taking into account your work and social life which so we understand what you realistically can fit in and any areas which may affect your gym routines, stress and physical output. What are these personalised programs? They’re created for you up to 4 times a year by our fitness team. Programming is best done after an Inbody scan which is also included 4 times per year in your membership. Tell us your goals and taking into account your current fitness and commitments, we’ll design you a plan to get you to where you want to be. Images, descriptions, reps and sets are all put into a document which is provided in print as well as digitally for you to follow. This is a recommendation but can be followed as strictly as you like or looked at simply as a guide.

Personal Training

Our personal trainers aren’t purely coaches. They teach classes, work at reception and you’ll often find them on the gym floor so you can get to know them, their specialisms and their personalities before you book a session. They may know your motivators and pullbacks during a class which can be quickly addressed when having a 1-1 in the gym.

Head personal trainer Natalie has a rehab approach when training you, she’s qualified in Level 3 Personal Training as well as exercise referral from GPs at this same competency; Nat is your go-to when recovering from an injury or operation. In addition to this, Nat is a Level 4 Sports Massage Therapist.

Wanting to build up strength? Ella is your girl! This competitive lifter will assist you with increasing weight and correcting your form for movements such as squats, bench press, deadlifts, yet also using all gym equipment to gain muscle and drop weight if this is your goal.

Hayley’s specialty is helping those who are seeking to overall tone up. Many clients come to her with a desire to feel more confident for the Summer or to switch up their gym routine to add more variety. Hayley is fantastic at injecting new exercises in to your routine, whilst also getting amazing body transformation results.

Our second sports massage therapist, Bethany, can relieve you of tight muscles, assist with draining the lymphatic system, and improve recovery.

Classes

Our two studios offer a wide range of classes from relaxing holistic classes to more upbeat, higher intensity classes. Yoga, Pilates and barre are classes that run in our relaxed Studio Y, high-intensity sessions such as circuits, HIIT and core, spin, tone-up and more are held in the high energy Studio X.

These are all the services offered at Supersonic Fitness, and we haven’t even mentioned our café yet! We have multiple membership options, but if the commitment isn’t for you yet you want to make use of our fantastic facilities, 5 passes for £50 or 10 for £90 are great. These can be mixed and matched for gym, classes and recovery zone.
